It is never easy to face an opponent and rival three times in one season. It is never easy to beat that rival opponent three times in one season.

That was the task for No. 6 De La Salle Monday evening against 9-4A rival and No. 11 seed Kenner Discovery.

Suffice it to say that the Cavaliers handled the task in solid fashion.

Danai Lewis pumped in 18 points and De La Salle downed the Swamp Owls 46-31 in uptown New Orleans in the Select Division II regional round of the playoffs. The Cavaliers swept Kenner Discovery in a pair of district games.

De La Salle led 9-7 after one quarter and 17-12 at halftime. The lead grew to 29-19 after three quarters.

Rae’l Simons added 12 points for De La Salle.

The Cavaliers (24-13) has won four straight games and advances to the quarterfinals and will travel to Lake Charles to battle No. 3 St. Louis Catholic. The Saints defeated No. 19 Booker T. Washington of Shreveport 76-63.
