De La Cruz named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech senior Krystal De La Cruz picked up her second Conference USA Pitcher of the Week award on Monday following her performance in the Lady Techsters five games during the past week.

The Eagle Pass, Texas, native posted a 4-0 record with a 0.34 earned run average during the week, including recording all three wins in a weekend Conference USA sweep over UTEP.

De La Cruz allowed just one run in 20.2 innings of work. She surrendered just 11 hits as opponents batted just .153 against her while striking out 15 batters.

Her week started with a complete-game two-hit shutout against ULM on Tuesday. She then picked up a pair of wins in relief in game one and game three against UTEP while getting her fourth win in a game two start against the Miners.

De La Cruz is now 13-2 on the season with a 2.02 earned run average. She will lead Louisiana Tech into a Tuesday midweek match-up against Grambling State set for 6 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
