Former two-time New Orleans Hornets All-Star forward David West announced his retirement Thursday, just a day after his 38th birthday.

West capped his career by spending his final two NBA seasons with the Golden State Warriors, winning back-to-back titles.

Drafted by New Orleans out of Xavier with the 18th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, the 6-foot-9 West steadily developed into a star. He was named an All-Star in 2008 and 2009.

West spent 2011-15 with the Indiana Pacers after leaving New Orleans in free agency. Then came a season with the San Antonio Spurs and the two-year stint at Golden State.
