Cypress Physical Therapy, Malcolm Dienes, K’s for Kids stay unbeaten in CCS Prep Summer League with wins

A trio of teams are off to a hot start in year two of the Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League.

Lutcher-based Cypress Physical Therapy, Archbishop Rummel-based Malcolm Dienes and Brother Martin-based K’s for Kids are all 2-0 after solid wins Tuesday.

Cypress Physical Therapy rallied late with a big inning to down Gulf Coast Bank 6-2 at Lutcher.

The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the first before the Owls tied it in the top of the second. Gulf Coast Bank took a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the fourth.

Cypress Physical Therapy exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to post the win.

Kai Brown doubled, singled and drove in two runs to pace the Bulldogs while Chaduthaddeus Carter and Brock Louque each had a hit and an RBI. Luke Babin picked up the win in relief, pitching two perfect innings, striking out three.

Archbishop Rummel-based Malcolm Dienes started slow but came on strong to defeat the John Curtis Christian-based River Ridge Patriots 6-2 at Raider Park to improve to 2-0.

The Patriots took the lead immediately, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning before the Raiders tied it with two runs in the bottom of the second and took the lead for good with two runs in the third. Malcolm Dienes put the game away with two runs in the sixth inning.

Ruben Ramirez had two hits and two RBI while Louisiana Tech commit Gavin Nix had two hits and an RBI for Malcolm Dienes. Lenny Cline and LSU commit Mikey Ryan each drove in a run.

Nick Culotta picked up the win, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with a strikeout in relief of Peyton Spadoni. Brian Keller pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts to pick up the save.

Kolston Martinez took the loss in relief of Juan Washington for River Ridge. Bryce Hebert had three hits and an RBI for the Patriots (1-1).

Malcolm Dienes travels to Tiger Park to face Holy Cross Thursday while River Ridge plays Retif Oil Thursday at 3 p.m. at John Ryan Stadium.

Brother Martin-based K’s for Kids also improved to 2-0 with a 5-2 win over Jesuit-based Retif Oil at John Ryan Stadium.

K’s for Kids jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second before Retif Oil cut the deficit to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the second. The Crusaders made it 5-1 with two runs in the third inning before the Oilers scored their final run in the fifth inning.

Ben Switzer had a double and two RBI while Frank Randol had a double and an RBI. Kolby Hunter added a hit and an RBI. Switzer also pitched two shutout innings.

Joe Bosco took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in three innings pitched. Dalton Loupe pitched four shutout innings in relief. Jake Moreci had two hits while Sean Maher had a hit and an RBI for Retif Oil (0-2).
