Cypress Physical Therapy, K’s for Kids, Malcolm Dienes stay unbeaten; Gulf Coast Bank, Cretin Townsend Homes, Lakeshore also win

Lutcher-based Cypress Physical Therapy remained unbeaten in Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League play, rallying with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Pope John Paul II 5-4 at home Thursday.

Caleb Hastings doubled home a run and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

The Bulldogs (3-0) took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double by Marshall Louque.

The Jaguars tied it with a run in the top of the fifth inning before Cypress Physical Therapy reclaimed the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Colin Rouques was hit by a pitch, plating a run.

Pope John Paul II took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the top of the sixth but the Bulldogs tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Jaguars scored a run in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for the winning rally.

Ethan Detillier was the winning pitcher in relief of Quinn Smith.

Brother Martin-based K’s For Kids remained unbeaten as well with a 6-2 win over Belle Chasse.

The Crusaders scored a run in the second and three runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals cut the deficit in half with single runs in the bottom of the third. K’s for Kids got the two runs back in the top of the fifth to finish the scoring.

Austin Belle had two hits while Ryan Darrah and Jack Lupo each had a hit and an RBI for K’s for Kids, who utilized seven different pitchers for one inning each.

Archbishop Rummel-based Malcolm Dienes stayed unbeaten as well with a 2-1 victory over Holy Cross-based Ponstein’s Food Store at Tiger Park.

Louisiana Tech commit Gavin Nix drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning and made it 2-0 in the top of the third, scoring on a double play grounder by Tulane commit Evan Burg. The Tigers scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning.

LSU commit Mikey Ryan started and pitched three shutout innings, allowing just one hit with two walks and four strikeouts to pick up the win. Ryan Claverie pitched two innings and Burg worked the final two scoreless innings to pick up the save for Malcolm Dienes (3-0).

Jay Distler started and took the loss for Ponstein’s with Ashby and Ryan Planchard following him on the mound.

Chalmette-based Gulf Coast Bank scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Northshore-based Peck’s Seafood 2-1 at Noel Suarez Stadium.

It was a most unusual victory as the Owls (2-1) scored two runs without recording a hit in the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, Cameron Tipton walked and Evan Jacob reached on an error. Bryce Wilson advanced both with a sacrifice bunt and Latrell Grant was intentionally walked to load the bases. Cole Armstrong drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly to end it.

Devin Dipascal went 4.1 innings in relief to pick up the win. Grant went the first 2.2 innings, allowing no runs.

Gulf Coast Bank took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI groundout by Jacob. Peck’s Seafood tied it in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Grant Simmons. Beau Herdliska took the loss in relief.

St. Charles Catholic-based Cretin Townsend Homes went on the road and edged Mandeville-based Gulf Coast Bank & Trust 3-2.

The Comets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before the Skippers rallied to tie it with single runs in the first and fifth innings. Cretin Townsend Homes (1-1-1) got the game-winning run in the top of the sixth.

Jackson Doster had a hit and drove in all three runs for the Comets while Landree Leblanc had two hits and scored a run. Doster, the fifth pitcher of the game for Cretin Townsend Homes, picked up the win, pitching two scoreless innings.

Spencer Felarise had two hits and an RBI, Peyton Chiasson and Luke Lejeune each had two hits while Kyle Charrier had a hit and an RBI for the Skippers (1-2).

The John Curtis-based River Ridge Patriots (2-1) won 11-5 over Jesuit-based Retif Oil (0-3) at John Ryan Stadium.

After the game was tied 2-2 after one inning, the Patriots took over, scoring four runs in both the second and third innings to jump out to a 10-2 lead. Retif Oil scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 10-5 and the Patriots finished it off with a run in the fifth inning.

Brad Chiasson had two hits and three RBI and scored three runs for River Ridge while Isaiah Spann had three hits and two RBI. Bryce Hebert and Connor Micheu each had a hit and two RBI. Hebert pitched three innings, allowing two unearned runs to pick up the win.

In a wild contest, Lakeshore fought off Archbishop Shaw-based Refuel 8-7 at home.

Refuel led 2-1 into the bottom of the fifth when the Titans erupted for six runs to take a 7-2 lead. The Eagles bounced right back, tying it with five runs in the top of the sixth but Lakeshore won it with a run in the bottom of the sixth to win it.

Owen Guth had a triple and two RBI while Logan Lomonico had two hits and two runs scored for the Titans (2-1). Lomonico picked up the win in relief, pitching one shutout inning.
