Cross Country: Newman sweeps girls, boys competition at Randy Zell Classic

It was a good Saturday morning for Newman in the Randy Zell Classic Cross Country Meet at City Park.

The Greenies won both the boys and girls competition.

Newman won the girls competition with Mount Carmel Academy second and McGehee third. John Curtis Christian was fourth and Lusher Charter finished fifth.

Ava Hartman of Newman won the individual title in a time of 18:29 with Saige Christen of Patrick Taylor second. Anna Schmidt of McGehee finished third.

On the boys side, Newman edged Rummel for the team title with Jesuit third, John Curtis Christian fourth and St. Martin’s Episcopal fifth.

Kaden McLaughlin of Archbishop Rummel won the individual boys title in a time of 16:23.

McLaughlin is a National Merit Semifinalist. William Moore of Newman was second with Alastair Deng of Ben Franklin third.
