CrescentCitySports.com to broadcast Warren Easton-Edna Karr showdown Thursday night

One of the biggest games of the year in the New Orleans area and in the state of Louisiana is set for Thursday night when Warren Easton takes on Karr at 7 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium in a battle for the District 9-4A championship and a high seed in the Class 4A state playoffs.

The Eagles (7-1, 4-0) are ranked No. 1 in the state in the Louisiana Sportswriters poll, are No. 2 in the 4A power ratings and are third in the CrescentCitySports.com rankings.

The defending state champion Cougars (8-1, 4-0) are ranked No. 3 in the state in the Sportswriters poll, are No. 3 in the power ratings and are No. 1 in the state in the CrescentCitySports.com rankings.

Easton is led by junior quarterback Lance Legendre, who recently made an unofficial visit to LSU and has offers from Tulane, Oregon State, Nicholls and Southern Miss. Legendre has completed 84-of-142 passes (59%) for 1,460 yards and 16 touchdowns with just two interceptions. He has rushed 56 times for 411 yards (7.3 avg.) with seven touchdowns.

Senior Larry Barabino is the leading rusher with 84 carries for 518 yards and five touchdowns. Fellow senior Sheldon “Sticks” Jones, a UTSA commitment, is the top receiver with 41 receptions for 590 yards and three touchdowns while senior Yo’Heinz Tyler has 18 catches for 399 yards and two scores. Defensively, Khyran Givens leads in tackles with 39.5, including 10.5 for loss. Defensive back and wide receiver Damien Tate is a McNeese commit.

Karr is led by senior quarterback Skylar Perry, who has completed 83-of-148 passes (56%) for 1,325 yards and 14 touchdowns with three interceptions. Perry has rushed 64 times for 425 yards and six scores.

Junior Ahmad Antoine has rushed 80 times for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns while junior Ronnie Jackson has 99 rushes for 655 yards and 11 scores. Senior Anthony Spurlock, an Oregon State commit, is the top receiver with 21 catches for 533 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, senior linebacker Sheldon Celestine leads team with 41 tackles, seven sacks and three interceptions. Guard Titus Jones and safety Quindell Johnson are both Memphis commits.
