NEW ORLEANS – Two of the top volleyball programs in Louisiana face off Tuesday afternoon on Crescent City Sports when Academy of the Sacred Heart and Metairie Park Country Day School meet in a non-district match.

First serve for the varsity match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the Country Day campus in old Metairie. Emmanuel Pepis will describe the action.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Sacred Heart (20-8) is currently sixth in the Division IV power rankings, while Country Day (22-4) sits atop the Division V rankings.

The Cardinals won the 2020 Division IV championship, their 14th title in school history, and have an experienced head coach in six-time state champion Jay Jay Juan. The Cajuns, under the leadership of Julie Ibieta, have built a dynasty in Division V, winning six consecutive state championships and 12 of the last 13 titles.

The teams are meeting for the third consecutive year, with Sacred Heart winning in 2020 and Country Day taking a straight-set victory last season.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 12th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced more than 400 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2022-23.
