NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school girls basketball continues Thursday with a non-district matchup of a pair of defending state champions, Ponchatoula and John Curtis Christian.

Live coverage from River Ridge will begin at 6:50 p.m., just prior to the 7 p.m. tipoff for the matchup which will serve as Curtis’ senior night. CCS’ Lenny Vangilder and Bill Gallagher will describe the action.

The girls basketball regular season ends this week with the LHSAA postseason brackets being released Monday. As of Tuesday, the Lady Wave (20-8) was sixth in the LHSAA’s unofficial power rankings for non-select Division I, while the Lady Patriots (18-1) sit atop the select Division I rankings.

Curtis has already wrapped up the District 9-5A title, while Ponchatoula can clinch the outright 6-5A title Friday against Hammond.

A year ago, Ponchatoula won its second state title, defeating Parkway 80-79 in double overtime in the 5A title game, while John Curtis won its sixth straight Division I title over McKinley 67-47.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 12th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced more than 400 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2022-23.
