Crescent City Sports to live stream Newman-Riverside football Friday night
NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school sports for the 2023-24 school year continues Friday with a non-district rivalry matchup between a pair of ranked teams looking to get to 2-0, Isidore Newman and Riverside Academy.
Coverage from Reserve will begin just prior to the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff. CCS’ Lenny Vangilder and Wayde Keiser will describe the action.
The Greenies are fourth in the Crescent City Sports Class 2A rankings this week, while the Rebels are ranked sixth in Class 1A.
Both teams scored convincing Week 1 victories. Newman used three Eli Friend touchdown passes and a pair of defensive scores to defeat Hahnville 41-21 at home, while Riverside, behind 218 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Dedric Lastie, knocked off St. Thomas Aquinas 55-18 in Hammond.
The one-time district rivals are meeting in non-district play for the second straight year. Last season, Newman extended its winning streak over Riverside to five with a 42-20 victory at Lupin Field.
Prior to the Greenies’ current series streak, the Rebels won six straight meetings, including a playoff win in 2015. The teams have split the last 18 meetings.
The Crescent City Sports team is in its 13th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced nearly 500 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2023-24. All written and video content on CCS is always free and does not require a subscription.
