NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports continues its live streaming coverage of high school baseball Friday night with a homecoming as St. Paul’s plays host to Holy Cross.

CCS’ coverage will begin just prior to the 6 p.m. first pitch from Heap Field in Covington. Ken Trahan and Danny Riehm will describe the action Friday.

The homecoming is for Holy Cross head coach Andy Cannizaro, who starred at St. Paul’s and graduated in 1997 before moving on to Tulane and eventually the major leagues. This is the first time Cannizaro is bringing his Tigers to St. Paul’s.

Holy Cross (11-3) enters the weekend on a five-game winning streak in which the Tigers have scored in double figures in every game. St. Paul’s (10-3) and has won four straight, including a 15-5 victory over Slidell Tuesday in its District 6-5A opener.

Both rosters are dotted with future college players. Holy Cross’ Gavin Schulz and Chandler Welch are both following in their coach’s footsteps and headed to Tulane, while Lance Lauve will head to Southeastern Louisiana and Josh Orr is bound for Loyola. St. Paul’s infielder/pitcher Connor Simon signed with LSU and first baseman Matthew Russo inked with Southern Miss in the fall, while sophomore left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson has committed to LSU.

St. Paul’s won the 2019 Division I state title, its first since 1999. Holy Cross also has two state championships in its storied history – in 1969 and 1944.

Friday’s matchup is the start of a home-and-home weekend series between the schools. The teams head to Holy Cross for a Saturday doubleheader, following the format of early-round playoff series later this spring.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 10th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced broadcasts of more than 300 live games since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2020-21. Additionally, in cooperation with Cox Sports Television, CCS will also produce additional events that will both be televised on CST and streamed on the site.
