Crescent City Sports took home four top-three finishes in judging for the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association contest announced Sunday.

Les East was third in the Prep Writer of the Year in Division I, in which writers submit multiple stories in different formats for judging. East also had a pair of stories place in the top three – a third place in pro event for his coverage of the Saints-Buccaneers game on Oct. 31, and third in breaking news for his coverage of the passing of former Times-Picayune sports editor Bob Roesler last February.

Lenny Vangilder took home a second place in prep event for his coverage of the De La Salle-Hahnville football game on Oct. 15, which featured twin brothers on opposite sidelines.

In the sweepstakes competition, CCS placed eighth of 11 media outlets in Division I, which is for the larger circulations and staff sizes in the state.

The awards are presented annually on the day after the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Natchitoches.
