Cowboys release former Riverside basketball star Rico Gathers

The Dallas Cowboys have released tight end Rico Gathers, the former Riverside Academy and Baylor basketball standout.

Gathers was entering his fourth training camp with Dallas. He played 15 games, including four starts, last season with just three catches.

The sixth-round pick in 2016 was Louisianas Mr. Basketball in 2011 and helped the Rebels win one state title while reaching another championship game in his prep career.
