Country Day fends off Westminster Christian for seventh straight state volleyball title

Make it seven straight state championships and 13 of the last 14 for Country Day.
It did not come easy.
The top-seeded Cajuns fought off a huge challenge from No. 2 Westminster Christian 24-26, 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 15-7 at the Cajundome in Lafayette to capture the Division V title Saturday morning.

Kansas signee Ellie Schneider was a dominant force, putting away 28 kills to lead the Cajuns (32-4) and was named the Outstanding Player of the Match. Olivia Prout and Gigi Dazet each contributed nine kills.
Abigail Cunningham had 22 kills for the Crusaders (35-8).
