Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Oct. 15

In a battle of defending state champions in New Orleans, Country Day handled Academy of the Sacred Heart 25-12, 25-16, 26-24.

Ellie Schneider had 21 kills and five blocks, Emma Launey finished with 21 assists, Ellison Vosbein contributed 12 digs, Nia Washington finished with five aces and Gigi Dazet had five blocks.

Country Day (18-3) has won six straight matches and the Cajuns will entertain John Curtis Christian Monday at 5:30 p.m. The Cardinals (11-8) are back in action today, hosting Crescent City Christian at 4:30 p.m.

Archbishop Chapelle overcame an early deficit to defeat Hahnville 22-25, 25-17, 25-8, 25-14 at home.

Isabella McCann had seven kills, 13 digs and three blocks while Megan LaCour had seven kills and three aces for the Chipmunks. Colleen O’Connor finished with 18 digs while Haylie Lambert had 22 assists and served four aces. Carmel Wetzel produced four blocks.

Both teams are back in action today. Chapelle (12-3) will host Bonnabel at 5:30 p.m. in a District 8-I matchup. The Tigers (9-7) host Terrebonne at 6:30 p.m. in a District 6-I contest.

Cabrini staged a furious comeback to overcome Ursuline Academy 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 17-15 in a thriller at Ursuline for its third straight win.

Senior Raeyln Mornay had 19 kills and two aces, sophomore Arianna Marrero had 15 kills and 20 assists with four blocks and junior Sammy Jo Rearick Majoue finished with 14 kills and 44 assists and two aces for the Crescents.

Cabrini (10-11) is back at action at Haynes Academy today at 4:30 p.m. while the Lions (4-15) have lost four straight matches and return to action Friday, hosting Kenner Discovery at 4:30 p.m.

Destrehan won at home over Riverside Academy 28-26, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18 Wednesday.

Senior Ryley Borne produced 22 kills, five digs, an ace and had an assist, sophomore Khara Morton had 11 kills with an assist and senior Sadie Rochelle added seven kills. Senior Skylar DeFrisco served five aces and had 37 assists. Senior Chloe Schexnayder had 12 digs.

The Wildcats (10-5) will play at Grace King today at 4:30 p.m. The Rebels (8-9) will play at Ecole Classique next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
