Christ Episcopal captures girls Class B track and field state title

Christ Episcopal captured the LHSAA/Allstate Sugar Bowl outdoor girls Class B track and field state championship at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge Thursday with 78.5 points. Episcopal of Acadiana finished second with 66 points.

Svenya Stoyanoff was the star for the Wildcats, finishing second in the 800 while taking first in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. Stoyanoff also ran the first leg of the 4×400 meter relay for the Wildcats, who finished second in that discipline. Ella Laborde of Christ Episcopal won the 300 meter hurdles.

Christ Episcopal won the 4×200 meter relay.

Reeves won the girls Class C state title with 85 points while Hornbeck was second with 64 points.

Ouachita Christian won the girls 1A state championship with 80 points and East Iberville was second with 56 points.

The OCS boys also won the boys 1A title, making it a clean sweep, finishing with 124 points. Ascension Catholic was a distant second with 62 points and Country Day finished third with 55 points.

J.S. Clark Leadership Academy won the boys Class B title with 117 points with Simsboro coming in second with 81 points.

Hackberry won the boys Class C championship with 76 points, edging Jehovah-Jireh with 71 points.
