Chasers edge ‘Cakes in 10 innings, 10-9

Papillion, Neb. – Erick Mejia’s sacrifice fly scored Chase d’Arnaud in the 10th inning to give the host Omaha Storm Chasers a 10-9 win Thursday night over the New Orleans Baby Cakes.

The Storm Chasers took three of four in the series and handed New Orleans its first three-game road losing streak of the season.

New Orleans hammered three home runs in the game as Isaac Galloway, Isan Diaz and Eddy Alvarez went deep.

Jecksson Flores launched a two-run home run for Omaha in the sixth inning of a game that featured multiple lead changes.

Galloway led the way for the ‘Cakes with two hits and four RBIs. Josh Staumont earned the win and R.J. Alvarez suffered the defeat.

The crazy series had 22 combined home runs, and the teams combined for 66 runs in the four games.

The ‘Cakes are 52-45 on the season and a season high 10 games back of first-place San Antonio.

GAME NOTES: Eddy Alvarez extended his hitting streak to 14 games, second longest of the season for New Orleans (Isan Diaz, 17). The ‘Cakes fall to 2-7 in extra inning games.

UPCOMING: The ‘Cakes open a three game home series on Friday night at The Shrine on Airline against the Round Rock Express.
