Chapelle announces Anne Marie Stelly as head volleyball coach, Sherri Thompson as head track & field/cross country coach

Archbishop Chapelle High School has hired Anne Marie Stelly as its new Head Volleyball coach and Sherri Thompson as its new Head Cross Country and Head Track and Field Coach, Chapelle Athletic Director Dale LaCour has announced.

The school has sent out the following press release on the two new additions:

Stelly comes to Chapelle with 16 years of high school head coaching experience including the past 13 as head coach at Belle Chasse High School.

Stelly’s Belle Chasse teams advanced to seven state quarter final matches, and the 2015 team advanced to the state semi-finals. The Cardinals made playoff appearances in all 13 seasons with Stelly as head coach.

In 2013, Stelly was the assistant coach of the East All-Star Team. She later served as the assistant coordinator for the All-Star Game in 2015 and the All-Star Game lead coordinator in 2016.

Thompson comes to Chapelle from Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau, where since 2016 Tshe has been the Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at the school.

From 2012 through 2016, Thompson was the Head Track and Field Coach at Louise S. McGehee School in New Orleans. Prior to her time at McGehee, Thompson was the Head Cross Country coach at St. Mary’s Dominican High School from 2004-2012.

At Dominican, Thompson’s teams finished in the top five in state in 2004, 2007-2011 and captured the 10-5A District Championship in 2009, 2010, and 2011. In 2010, the Dominican team finished as state runner-up. The 2011, her squad won the metro championship and the state championship.

Thompson also served as assistant track and field coach at Dominican from 2004 through 2011.
