Chalmette rallies past Salmen in bowling

The Chalmette boys bowling team came back from a first-game deficit to defeat Salmen’s co-ed team 17-10 Tuesday at Bowling USA in Slidell.

The Spartans took a 5-3 lead after the first game with three wins in the middle of the lineup and an 863-834 edge in total pins to claim the two bonus points.

The Owls bounced back in game two behind Sebastian Maher’s 211 in the anchor position, claiming six of the possible eight points for a 9-7 lead heading into the final game.

The top of the Chalmette lineup stepped up in the final game, getting the necessary individual points while the Owls claimed both the third-game bonus and the three-point “super bonus” for total pins in the match.

Maher had a 602 series to pace the victorious Owls while Jacob Koster turned in a 598 set, including a 222 in a losing effort in game two.

Devairr McLaughlin led Salmen with a 595 series, including a 244 second game, while Sara Howell finished with a 213 for a 579 set.

Chalmette meets Jesuit on Thursday at Bowling USA, while Salmen will face unbeaten Brother Martin at Colonial Lanes.
