College Football Playoff Semifinal Will Feature Another Full House in the Superdome

Allstate Sugar Bowl, CFP semifinalsNEW ORLEANS – The 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl is sold out, the Sugar Bowl Committee announced on Wednesday. This year’s game (Monday, January 1, 2018) will double as a College Football Playoff Semifinal and will be televised live by ESPN from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome beginning at 7:45 p.m. (Central). The 84th annual Sugar Bowl Classic will feature over 70,000 fans for the 62nd time in its history.

While the game is sold out, options remain for attending the game.  The Ticketmaster Ticket Exchange platform is the only official, safe way to access tickets via the secondary market as the bowl is unable to verify the validity of tickets purchased from other third-party sources.  Additionally, a variety of hotel/travel/ticket packages are still available through Destination Management, Inc.

The teams for the College Football Playoff will be announced on Sunday, December 3 via a national broadcast on ESPN.  The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host either the semifinal between the No. 1 and No. 4 teams in the nation or the No. 2 and No. 3 teams.

In addition to this year’s College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, there will also be a semifinal played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. The winners of the two semifinal games will advance to play in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta on January 8.

Other activities during the week of the Allstate Sugar Bowl will include the Allstate Fan Fest, the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Fan Jam. Fan Fest is located in downtown New Orleans. That event is a two-day (December 30-31) FREE experience featuring national recording artists – last year’s featured Panic! at the Disco and Jason Derullo. The New Year’s Eve Parade is a Mardi Gras-style parade with floats, bands and other participants that is sure to entertain fans young and old on the afternoon of December 31 in the French Quarter. Fan Jam is a Game Day party located at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome featuring local New Orleans bands and interactive events. All three of these Allstate Sugar Bowl activities include appearances by the bands and cheerleaders of the participating schools.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 27 national champions, 92 Hall of Fame players, 48 Hall of Fame coaches and 17 Heisman Trophy winners in its 83-year history. The 84th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic will mark the second College Football Playoff Semifinal hosted by the Sugar Bowl Committee. In addition to football, the Committee annually invests over $1.6 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards and clinics. Via these efforts, the organization supports and honors over 25,000 student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
