Cedric Figaro

Lafayette High has named former NFL linebacker Cedric Figaro as the school’s new head coach.

Most recently an assistant coach for Class 5A champion Acadiana, the Lafayette High graduate Figaro returns to his alma mater where here was a state defensive MVP before moving on to play college ball and earn All-American honors at Notre Dame.

Figaro was a sixth round draft pick of the Chargers in 1988 and played seven NFL seasons. The 53-year old also played for the Colts, Browns and Rams.

In nearly two decades as a coach, Figaro has experience in the NFL and high school ranks including a head coaching stint at South Plaquemines.
