CCS High School Football

John F. Kennedy High School long ago established a solid football tradition, first reaching the state playoffs back in 1970. The Cougars subsequently made the playoffs nine times through 2003.

Then came Hurricane Katrina. The original school was damaged and closed.

Then came a renaissance. A new school was built on Paris Ave. and became known as Lake Area New Tech.

In 2019, the original name was reinstated and the tradition was revived. Lynaris Elpheage, a former Carver and Tulane star, has brought the program to prominence.

The Cougars (6-1) have lost just once, a one-point defeat to Helen Cox. JFK now sits in a very strong position to earn a high playoff seed.

As a result, John F. Kennedy has reached the Crescent City Sports Top 10 rankings in Class 3A in the 10th position.

Union Parish and record-setting running back and LSU commit Trey Holly remain in the top spot in 3A with E.D. White Catholic second. Unbeaten Church Point is third with Madison Prep fourth and St. James now fifth. Bogalusa moves to sixth with unbeaten Carroll seventh. University Lab falls to eighth with Parkview Baptist ninth.
