CCS Prep League: Malcolm Dienes downs Cretin Townsend Homes, 7-1

In Crescent City Sports Prep Summer League action Wednesday, Archbishop Rummel-based Malcoln Dienes handled St. Charles Catholic-based Cretin Townsend Homes 7-1 at Rummel.

Malcolm Dienes (2-2-1) scored single runs in the bottom of the first and second innings before tallying three runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead. The Rummel-based squad added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings before Cretin Townsend Homes got its only run in the top of the seventh inning.

While the hitting was there for Malcolm Dienes, it was all about the pitching.

Brock Bullinger pitched three scoreless, hitless innings, walking two and striking out three. Shane Hirstius followed with two shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Brady Schmidt went the final two innings, allowing an unearned run on no hits while recording a strikeout.

Gavin Nix belted a pair of home runs and drove in three runs while LSU commit Mikey Ryan also homered and drove in a pair of runs for Malcolm Dienes. Rhett Centanni had a hit and RBI and Mason Scholl added an RBI.

Brady Clement got the only hit for Cretin Townsend Homes, an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Hudson Heltz started on the mound for Cretin Townsend Homes, going two innings, allowing four runs on four hits while Jackson Monica pitched four innings, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
