Catholic, Episcopal St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart top Louisiana prep cross country rankings

Catholic of Baton Rouge and Episcopal top the first Louisiana Track and Field Coaches Association boys state cross country rankings while St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart of New Orleans top the girls rankings.

Catholic is the defending Class 5A boys state champion and tops the Boys Large School Rankings. St. Paul’s is second with Brother Martin third and Jesuit fourth. Defending 4A state champion Belle Chasse is fifth. Among area teams, Mandeville is seventh with Holy Cross eighth.

Episcopal is the defending 2A boys state champion and tops the Boys Small School Rankings. University High is second with defending 3A state champion Erath third. West Feliciana is fourth with Holy Savior Menard fifth. Among area schools, Country Day is sixth with Newman seventh and Christ Episcopal, the defending Class C state champion, ninth.

Among the Girls Large Schools, defending 5A state champion St. Joseph’s is No. 1 with Mandeville second and Mount Carmel third. Defending 4A state champion Vandebilt Catholic is fourth with St. Michael fifth. Among area schools, Fontainebleau is sixth with Dominican seventh, St. Scholastica ninth and Cabrini is tenth.

Among the Girls Small Schools, defending 3A state champion Sacred Heart of New Orleans is No. 1 with Holy Savior Menard second. Newman is third with McGehee fourth and defending Class C state champion Christ Episcopal fifth. Among area schools, St. Martin’s Episcopal is eighth with Country Day ninth and St. Thomas Aquinas tenth.
