‘Cakes shut out in Salt Lake, 4-0

Salt Lake City – The Salt Lake Bees silenced a New Orleans Baby Cakes offense that scored 32 runs in the three game series at Las Vegas. On Friday, a trio of Bees hurlers dealt New Orleans a 4-0 shutout. It was the third time this season the ‘Cakes had been shutout.

Felix Pena delivered six innings, allowed five hits in the win. Taylor Cole worked two scoreless innings and Jake Jewell pitched a scoreless ninth to finish the shutout.

The Bees touched up New Orleans starter Zac Gallen with two runs in the first and two runs in the second inning. David Fletcher led the Salt Lake offense with three hits.

The ‘Cakes managed seven hits but stranded 10 men on base and were 0-for-10 with men in scoring position.

New Orleans has dropped three of the first four on the trip. The ‘Cakes continue the trip in Salt Lake on Saturday at 7:35 p.m.
