‘Cakes lose in Colorado Springs, 5-1

Colorado Springs – Tyrone Taylor drove in a pair of runs, scored two and added a pair of hits to lead the first-place Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 5-1 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Saturday night.

The Sky Sox scored three in the first inning, added a run in the third and used three pitchers to defeat the Baby Cakes for the third time in the last four days.

The visiting ‘cakes out-hit Colorado Springs 9-8, but stranded nine men and finished the game three for nine with runners on base. Eric Campbell added a pair of hits and drove in the lone New Orleans run.

New Orleans (41-47) will wrap up the series on Sunday at 2pm in Colorado Springs (49-38). The game will be the final game for the Baby Cakes in Colorado Springs, the franchise will relocate to San Antonio next season.
