‘Cakes drop ninth consecutive road game, lose 7-6 in 10 innings

Nashville – The Nashville Sounds scored three times in the tenth inning to defeat the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 7-6, in a wild walk-off finish.

The Sounds (11-9) improve to 7-2 at home, as the ‘Cakes fall to 0-9 on the road this season with three extra inning defeats and have dropped five in walk-off fashion.

Nashville led 1-0 and scored three in the sixth with a home run from Dustin Fowler and an RBI single from Nick Martini to give the Sounds a 4-0 advantage.

The ‘Cakes answered with four in the seventh, sending eight batters to the plate and pounding out five hits including a two run home run from Eric Campbell.

The game remained tied and in the top of the tenth the ‘Cakes scored a pair of runs. Nashville answered with a pair and won the game on a Sheldon Neuse sac fly to score the game winning run.

Bob Wahl picked up the win and Severino Gonzalez takes the loss.

Cristhian Adames led New Orleans with three hits and Rafael Ortega added a pair of hits coming off the bench.

GAME NOTES: New Orleans has dropped its first nine road games and is the only team in Minor League Baseball without a road win.

UPCOMING: Nashville will host New Orleans Friday at 6:35pm in game three of the five game series. Adam Conley will get the start for the ‘Cakes.
