Cajuns-Mountaineers conference series to finish with Saturday doubleheader
Ragin’ Cajuns and Mountaineers to begin play at 1:00 p.m. at Lamson Park
LAFAYETTE – With potential inclement weather forecasted for Sunday, March 26 in the Lafayette area, the final two games of this weekend’s Sun Belt Conference Softball series between No. 23 Louisiana and App State will be played as part of a Saturday (March 25) doubleheader at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.
The doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled to begin with the first game at 1:00 p.m., followed by the second game starting at 4:00 p.m.
Fans can use their Saturday ticket for both contests in the doubleheader. The venue will not be cleared between the two games.
Gameday sponsor Dudley DeBosier is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt after the conclusion of play in Game 2, to be immediately followed by an alumni home run derby.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (22-9, 4-0 SBC) and Mountaineers (15-9, 0-2 SBC) opened the three-game SBC series on Friday with a six-run bottom of the third inning allowing Louisiana to break free from a scoreless tie to gain an early lead in the series. Louisiana now has two chances to extend its streak of consecutive Sun Belt Conference series won, which stood at 74 straight entering the weekend.
Both games of Saturday’s doubleheader are being televised on ESPN+, while radio coverage is available in the Acadiana region via 103.3 FM The Goat and worldwide on the Varsity Network.
