BYU starting linebacker Francis to redshirt, miss LSU game
BYU linebacker Francis Bernard will redshirt this season for personal reasons, the school announced Thursday:

LSU faces BYU to open the Tigers’ season Sept. 2 in Houston. Cougars head coach Kalani Sitake confirmed the news on Bernard and shared changes to the defense to make up for the loss of a proven starter:

Bernard started all 12 games for the Cougars last season, tallying 80 total tackles, 5.5 for loss and two sacks.
