Byrd-West Monroe football game plans for Friday on and then off again
It could have been a battle between two good Class 5A programs Friday night at Lee Hedges Stadium when Byrd and West Monroe agreed earlier Tuesday to play.
However, after agreeing to face off as replacements for lost opponents due to COVID-19 issues, the game will instead not take place. West Monroe is now facing COVID-19 complications.
West Monroe had to send 2 starting OL home due to contact tracing at school. Rebels already banged up. Felt they had too many kids out. https://t.co/G3eCmZ7oXZ

Both teams were slated to play different foes on Friday night but issues with the virus have intervened.
The Yellow Jackets (4-0) were scheduled to play Benton while the Rebels (3-1) were to have hosted West Ouachita.
Byrd is still seeking an opponent for this week.
