Browns to release wide receiver Josh Gordon
The Saints already knew they had one less weapon to worry about on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. Now the Browns have decided to cut ties with Josh Gordon entirely.
The talented but troubled wide receiver will be released Monday, the team announced Saturday.
“This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday,” Browns General Manager John Dorsey said in a statement. “For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally, and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.”
The 27-year old Gordon caught a 17-yard touchdown in the Browns’ tie with the Steelers last week. Cleveland had ruled him out for Sunday’s game earlier today because of a hamstring injury.
