Brother Martin soccer players, Alfonso twins earn scholar-athlete honors

Congratulations to six of Brother Martin’s senior soccer players who have been named to the 2017-18 LHSAA All-Academic Team.

The LHSAA All-Academic Award program, presented by ISC, recognizes the academic excellence of Senior student-athletes who have attained a 3.5 grade point average or higher by placing them on the Class All-Academic Team.

Recently, two members of the Class of 2018 were awarded a scholarship from the American Italian Renaissance Foundation. Seniors Matthew Alfonso and his twin brother Ryan Alfonso were awarded a monetary scholarship for their excellence in academics and athletics.

Recipients of this award must be of Italian heritage, have participated in sports at the high school level and will attend college in the fall. The AIRF scholarship was awarded to the Alfonso’s during the 33rd annual Louisiana American Italian Sports Hall of Fame Gala.
