Brother Martin over St. Paul’s, Holy Cross downing Jesuit among Wednesday night wrestling highlights
The four top teams in the state in Division I and in any classification squared off in a pair of separate dual meets last night.
At St. Paul’s, Brother Martin rolled over the host Wolves 58-14.
The Crusaders won 10 of the 13 matches contested and took the 14th by forfeit.
Scoring falls for Brother Martin were Jake Spellman (106), Justin Leal (120), Alex Duncan (138), Seth Alfonso (152), Noah Roux (160), Kyle West (220) and Mack Brown (285). Jake Arena (195) won by pin for St. Paul’s (195).
The Crusaders will next wrestle in a three-way dual with De La Salle and Hahnville at De La Salle next Wednesday.
At the Jesuit Gym, Holy Cross downed the host Blue Jays 41-29.
In a hotly contested dual meet, the Tigers won eight of the 14 matches contested.
Winning by fall for Holy Cross were Jacob Frost (106), Caruso Signorelli (113), Michael Lundin (120), Logan Lacoste (132) and Logan Heffner (182). The Tigers dominated the lower weight classes, winning all six matches from 106 pounds through 138 pounds. Winning by pin for Jesuit were Nathan Koenig (152), Thomas Arseneaux (195) and Perry Ganci (285).
East Jefferson defeated Fontainebleau 42-27.
Roney Golding (126), Juilian Porrovecchio (145) and Alex Lozano (152) won by fall for the Warriors while Justin Marcentel (160) and Logan Ahlborn (220) won by pin for the Bulldogs.
On senior night, Hahnville edged Chalmette 40-36.
