Brother Martin-Northwood football playoff game to air on 106.1 as part of ‘The Original’

You can listen to the Select Division I state quarterfinal prep football playoff game pitting No. 5 Northwood against No. 13 seed Brother Martin.

The pre-game show begins Friday at 5:45 p.m. as part of Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report on NASH ICON 106.1 FM and at Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Cumulus New Orleans Sports Director Ken Trahan of Crescent City Sports will handle play-by-play duties while former Crusader players Chad Larose and Leni Sumich will provide analysis and Eric Held will be on the sideline.

The game will air as part of Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report, which includes full coverage of all 32 quarterfinal games in Louisiana from 6 p.m.-Midnight with reporters at every game in the state. the includes frequent scoreboard updates from Crescent City Sports.

Full coverage concludes with a simulcast of Friday Night Football from WNOL/WGNO at 11 p.m. on 106.1 FM.

Northwood handled No. 12 St. Paul’s 35-9 in Shreveport last Friday night. The Falcons (9-2) have won seven straight games.

Senior quarterback Mason Welch has passed for 1,795 yards and 11 touchdowns while also rushing for 305 yards and four scores to lead Northwood. Senior running back Quintavion White has rushed for 1,189 yards and 21 touchdowns, adding 14 catches for 158 yards.

The Crusaders (7-5) defeated District 9-5A rival and No. 4 seed St. Augustine 27-24 in the regional round.

Brother Martin led by senior running back Torey Lambert, who has rushed for 1,215 yards and 12 touchdowns and has 10 catches for 111 yards and a score, along with senior Clayton Lonardo, a versatile athlete who has rushed for 383 yards and a score, passed for 613 yards withthree touchdowns and caught six passes for 213 yards and two scores.

The winner advances to the semifinals to face the winner of the Friday night matchup pitting No. 8 Carencro against No. 1 seed Warren Easton at Pan American Stadium.
