Brother Martin, Mount Carmel win Cross Country Regional

Brother Martin and Mount Carmel Academy captured the 3-5A Cross Country regional meet titles Friday at City Park.

The Crusaders finished well ahead of rival Jesuit to win the boys title. Brother Martin had the top two state qualifiers in Abe Bernstein and Gary Sandrock while Ethan Dupas, Landon Sequeira and Merritt Pecoraro also qualified for the state meet for Brother Martin. Jesuit, Holy Cross, John Curtis Christian, Archbishop Shaw, Central Lafourche, Archbishop Rummel and Hahnville also qualified for the state meet.

The Cubs edged out rival Dominican for the girls title. Hope Shales of Mount Carmel was the top qualifier for state while Theresa Falgout, Ema Meneses, Ashleigh Gallagher, Elizabeth Traylor, Sammi Rogers and Grace Elvir also qualified for the state meet for Mount Carmel. Dominican, John Curtis, Archbishop Chapelle, Hahnville, Central Lafourche, H.L. Bourgoeis and Chalmette also qualified for the state tournament.
