Defending Division I state champion Brother Martin, 2017 Division I state champion Holy Cross, traditional power Jesuit, Archbishop Shaw and Archbishop Hannan all have multiple top seeds heading into the Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA state wrestling championships this Friday and Saturday at CenturyLink Center in Bossier City.

The Crusaders, who have won 18 state championships, including six of the last seven, have four top seeds, including Logan Bertot (120), defending state champion Daniel Croy (132), defending state champion Patrick Evans (145) and Mason Massicot (160).

The top contenders in Division I include Brother Martin, the favorite, and Holy Cross, clearly the second-best team. Jesuit and St. Paul’s figure to battle for the fourth spot. Catholic of Baton Rouge, Byrd, Comeaux, St. Amant and East Ascension should figure in the mix as well.

Parkway will challenge for the title again. The Panthers have Trey Fontenot (120), Jacob Chittom (138) and Connor Cloinger (220). It figures to be a two-team race for the championship once again.

Carencro has a pair of top seeds, including defending state champion Taylor Clay (160) and Kendrell Williams (170).

Other top seeds include Joshua Sarpy of North DeSoto (113), Chris Montalbano of Rummel (132), Lance Robinson of St. Michael (152) and Mataius Levine of Sam Houston (182).

Other contenders in Division II include Carencro, Live Oak, Archbishop Shaw, Archbishop Rummel, North DeSoto, Belle Chasse, Rayne and Sam Houston.

In Division III, it could come down to a battle between Basile, Brusly and possibly defending state champion St. Louis Catholic.

Basile has four top seeds, including defending state champion Alex Menier (113), Hunter Langley (132) and defending state champions Gavin Christ (145) and defending state champion Isaac Cortez (182).
