Brother Martin favored with seven top seeds for Catholic League wrestling tournament
Despite missing up to four starters with flu-like symptoms, Brother Martin is the favorite entering the Catholic League District Wrestling Tournament Saturday at Holy Cross.
The wrestling begins at 9 a.m. with the finals set for noon. You can watch the finals live at 12:05 p.m. on CrescentCitySports.com with Jim Ravannack joining me for the call of the action, presented by Campo Better Living and by Hancock Whitney Bank.
The Crusaders have seven top-seeds, including Jake Spellman (113), Daniel Croy (126), Riley Horvath (132), Luke Cotton (138), Patrick Evans (145), Cameron Frederick (195) and Mack Brown (285).
Jesuit has four top-seeds, including Nathan Koenig (152), Paul Treuting (160), Thomas Arseneaux (182) and Perry Ganci (220).
Holy Cross has a pair of top-seeds, including Jacob Frost (106) and Michael Lundin (120).
Archbishop Shaw has the other top-seed in Eduardo Garcia (170).
Top wrestlers, including defending state champion Blake Mateu of Archbishop Rummel and Caruso Signorelli of Holy Cross will not be participating but the majority of the best will wrestle Saturday.
