Brother Martin, Dominican win Mount Carmel Cub Run

A pair of local teams asserted themselves on the Cross Country front Saturday.

Brother Martin and Dominican scored solid victories in the Mount Carmel Cub Run in City Park, covering three miles.

The Crusaders easily outdistanced Mandeville for the win with Belle Chasse third, Holy Cross fourth and Parkview Baptist fifth.

Nathan Fontan of Mandeville won the individual race in a time of 16:07. Owen Tauzin of E.D. White Catholic was second.

Dominican was victorious on the girls side with Vandebilt Catholic second and E.D. White Catholic third. Mount Carmel Academy was fourth and Newman was fifth.

Kelsey Major of Dominican, the defending state cross country champion, won the individual title in a time of 18:41. Ava Hartman of Newman was second.
