After losing its Catholic League rivalry matchup with St. Augustine this week, Brother Martin has picked up a non-district pairing of top 10 teams.

As a result, instead of facing a school two miles away from its Gentilly campus, the Crusaders will make the 210-mile trip to central Louisiana to face Tioga Friday night at 7.

Both teams are 2-0. Brother Martin is ranked sixth in the latest Crescent City Sports Class 5A rankings, while Tioga is fifth in Class 4A. The Crusaders are sixth and the Indians eighth in their respective classes in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s weekly poll.

Both teams have displayed strong offenses in the first two weeks of the season. Tioga has outscored Buckeye and Jena by a combined 77-6, while Brother Martin has put up 93 points in victories over Ponchatoula and Jesuit.

Tioga was scheduled to face South Beauregard on Friday, but that school has been without power since Hurricane Delta.
