Broncos sign former Rummel wide receiver Steven Dunbar Jr.

Steven Dunbar Jr.Metairie native Steven Dunbar Jr. has signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent.

Dunbar (6-3, 202), who starred at Archbishop Rummel, helping lead the Raiders to state titles in 2012 and 2013, went on to star at Houston. With the Cougars, Dunbar amassed 180 catches for 2,430 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The wide receiver signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. He spent most of the season on the practice squad but was called up for the season finale against the Los Angeles Rams. He was waived by the 49ers in April.

At Rummel, Dunbar caught 88 passes for 1,488 yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons while starring in basketball, helping the Raiders reach the state quarterfinals in 2013.
