Brianna Ellis posts career high 19 in Privateers loss at Texas
AUSTIN, Texas – Brianna Ellis went for a career-best 19 points but the New Orleans Privateers were defeated 131-36 by the #25 Texas Longhorns on Tuesday at the Frank Erwin Center.
Ellis went 6-for-9 from the field and nailed all three of her triples despite playing just 22 minutes due to early foul trouble.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Longhorns wasted no time as they put the first 17 points on the board by the first quarter media timeout. Ellis responded with a jumper for the first Privateer points of the night. However, the Longhorns were on fire from long range.
Texas went 10-for-19 from three-point range and carried a 77-13 lead into the halftime locker room. The Longhorns also went to the free throw line 28 times in the first half.
The second half progressed with the Longhorns continuing to find their range. They also pulled down 53 rebounds to the Privateers’ 25. Kyndall Hunter led the way for the Longhorns with 27 points and was one of five Longhorns in double figures. Texas got 79 points from their bench on the night.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Jomyra Mathis finished with four points and three rebounds. Erin Randle had three points and also pulled down three boards. Randle and Dyana Offutt each had two assists. The Privateers went 12-for-49 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
The Privateers will travel to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears on Nov. 15. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
