Chase Engelhard earns a spot on the weekly honor roll

NEW ORLEANS – For the third straight week a Tulane University baseball player has been honored by the American Athletic Conference, as junior right-handed pitcher Braden Olthoff was named league pitcher of the week on Monday.

Olthoff earned the same honor from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) on Monday. He became the first Tulane player to be named Pitcher of the Week this season by the LSWA

Olthoff became the first Tulane player to be named Pitcher of the Week this season by the league office. In addition, freshman second baseman Chase Engelhard was selected to the league honor roll.

Olthoff was named Pitcher of the Week following a completely dominant performance in his lone start last week against Houston, as he picked up his team-leading fifth win on the year. The Oceanside, California native worked 8.0 innings, struck out a season-high 12 batters and did not give up a run. He also did not walk a batter and scattered five hits.

Engelhard earned a spot on the honor roll after helped guide Tulane to a 3-1 series win over Houston this past week at home. The Atlanta, Georgia, native batted .333 for the week and drove in eight runs. His eight runs driven in were tied for the league lead this past week.

UP NEXT
Tulane hits the road this week for a four-game showdown against No. 13-ranked ECU. All four games will be aired live on ESPN+ and can be heard on the radio by tuning into WRBH 88.3 FM.
