Brackets set for 2023 Sun Belt men’s basketball tournament

NEW ORLEANS – Seedings and match-ups for the 2023 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Championship were announced Friday evening following the conclusion of the regular season.

The 2023 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will take place February 28 through March 6 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla., with all 14 Sun Belt institutions competing in the single-elimination tournament.

Southern Miss, in its first year as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, claimed the regular-season championship and top seed with a 14-4 league record. The Golden Eagles are 25-6 overall and receiving votes in this week’s Associated Press Top-25 poll.

The top-four seeds to the tournament include: (1) Southern Miss, (2) Louisiana, (3) Marshall and (4) James Madison. The top-four seeds earn a double-bye straight to the quarterfinal round.

The men’s first-round games take place on Tuesday, February 28 with second-round contests on Thursday, March 2. The men’s quarterfinals take place Saturday, March 4 with semifinals on Sunday, March 5. The championship game is set for 6 p.m. CT on Monday, March 6.

All games will be broadcast on ESPN+ with the championship game being televised by ESPN2.
