Boys Soccer Playoff Report for Wednesday, Feb. 6

Been there, done that.

Catholic League rivals Brother Martin and Jesuit are accustomed to seeing each other in all sports. That includes at least twice annually on the pitch.

Make that three times this season.

The No. 15 Crusaders will try second-seeded and defending Division I state champion Jesuit for a third time this year Wednesday evening at 6 pm at John Ryan Stadium.

The Blue Jays defeated Brother Martin 3-0 at John Ryan Stadium on Jan. 19 and tied the Crusaders 0-0 on Nov. 24 at Houma.

Jesuit (20-0-6) has not lost this season while giving up just six goals. The Crusaders (9-5-3) advanced with an easy 6-0 victory over No. 18 Barbe in the opening round. Brother Martin last beat Jesuit 1-0 in 2016.

Also in Division I, No. 24 Bonnabel travels to Baton Rouge to face always tough Catholic High at 7 pm. The Bruins upset No. 9 Byrd on penalty kicks in an opening round thriller.

In Division II, No. 13 Destrehan heads to No. 4 Beau Chene. The Wildcats (11-5-2) advanced with a 5-0 opening round win over No. 20 Natchitoches Central.

Also in Division II, No. 14 Ben Franklin heads across the lake to battle No. 3 Lakeshore at 6:30 pm. The Falcons (11-10) advanced with a 2-0 victory over No. 19 De La Salle. The Titans are 19-3-2.

In Division IV, No. 6 Pope John Paul II entertains No. 22 Ascension Episcopal at 5:30 pm. The Jaguars (15-4-2) had a first-round bye.

No. 2 Newman (10-4-4) plays host to No. 18 Westminster Christian at 5 pm at Lupin Field. The Greenies had a first-round bye.
