Boys Bowling: Jesuit pulls away late against Patrick Taylor, Shaw and Kenner Discovery win openers

KENNER – Jesuit opened its 2022 bowling season with a test against Patrick Taylor, but thanks to a strong final game, the Blue Jays pulled away for a 19-8 victory Monday at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

Jesuit jumped to a 6-2 lead after one game before the Tigers rallied to tie the match at 8-8 heading into the final game.

The Blue Jays responded with a 1,216 final game, led by Will Adams’ 255 and Will Carpenter’s 254, and swept all eight points plus the three-point bonus for total pins.

Adams led Jesuit with a 654 series. Gary Sims had games of 207 and 211 from the No. 6 position.

Preston Jones, who returns in the No. 6 spot for Patrick Taylor this season, had games of 242 and 253 as part of a 669 series.

Archbishop Shaw 22, Pearl River 5: The Eagles got a 637 series from Jonathan Freeman in a victory over the Rebels at Westside Lanes in Harvey.

Freeman rolled games of 207-211-219, leading Shaw in each game.

Izaiah Auglair’s 231 final game capped a 560 series to lead Pearl River.

Kenner Discovery 22, St. Augustine 5: Also at AMF, the Swamp Owls built an insurmountable 15-1 lead after two games in defeating the Purple Knights.

Zander Milton’s 154 opening game topped the Kenner Discovery effort. Will Sam led St. Augustine with a 386 series, including a 144 middle game.
