Boys Bowling: Brother Martin, Shaw, Jesuit, Crescent City post wins

Nine Brother Martin bowlers rolled at least one 200 game as the Crusaders defeated Archbishop Rummel 23-4 at Colonial Lanes in Harahan.

Brother Martin (7-1) turned in a 3,717 team series on consistent games of 1,223, 1,253 and 1,241.

Crusader senior Drew Gardner, whose 222 average is the highest in the metro area, had games of 235 and 262 to lead the way, while junior Dylan McDonald fired games of 254 and 227.

Rummel (4-2) got a 560 series from Ben Mayer and a 233 middle game from Steven Mixon in the No. 1 slot.

Archbishop Shaw 20, Holy Cross 7: The Eagles jumped to a 7-1 lead after the first game en route to a victory over the Tigers at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

Jonathan Arena opened with a 211 game en route to a 579 series, while Jonathan Freeman had a pair of 191 games in a 542 set for Shaw (4-5).

Jackson Haro had games of 221 and 202 in a 585 series to lead Holy Cross (3-3).

Jesuit 27, Kenner Discovery 0: The Blue Jays had a 3,360 team series in blanking the Swamp Owls at AMF.

The top three bowlers in the lineup for Jesuit (6-1) all averaged better than 210 for two games, led by Gary Sims with games of 234 and 236. Luke Wood had a 257 opening game and Ben Hunn had a 253 middle game for the Jays.

Victor Cortes’ 155 opening game paced Kenner Discovery (0-6).

Crescent City Christian 14, East Jefferson 13: In a match that came down to the three-point bonus for total pins, the Pioneers edged the Warriors by 77 pins to claim their first victory of the season.

Gregory Storms’ 192 and Sebastian Decote’s 177 helped Crescent City (1-5) rally in the final game from deficits of 10-6 in the match and 74 total pins.

East Jefferson (0-7) grabbed its lead by sweeping all eight points in the middle game, led by CJ Piper’s 169.

Storms had a 472 series to lead Crescent City, while Caleb Goetz paced EJ with a 474 set.
