For the second time this week, Hahnville went on the road and used a fourth-quarter rally to secure a big playoff win.

The 10th-seeded Tigers scored 33 fourth-quarter points to overtake No. 2 seed Ouachita Parish 70-67 in a Class 5A quarterfinal Saturday night in Monroe.

Hahnville, which advanced to the quarterfinals with a road win over seventh-seeded Ponchatoula, was down by as many as 14 points in the third quarter on Saturday. The Tigers closed the gap to 42-37 after three quarters and outscored the Lions 33-25 in the final eight minutes.

Kaden Pierre led the Tigers with 23 points while Claudell Harris Jr. added 19, including a pair of three-pointers in a 10-0 fourth-quarter run that put Hahnville ahead for good.

Hahnville, which is in the semifinals for the first time in 11 years, is the only double-digit seed to reach Marsh Madness.

The Tigers will meet No. 6 seed Alexandria in one Class 5A semifinal at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, with Bonnabel facing Walker at 8 p.m. in the other semi. The championship game is at 8 p.m. Friday.

The road team also won the only other boys quarterfinal game on Saturday, with Class B No. 6 seed J.S. Clark Leadership Academy defeating third-seeded Hathaway 58-53 in Jennings.

Both the Hahnville-Ouachita Parish and Clark-Hathaway games were pushed back 24 hours because the Ouachita and Hathaway girls’ teams played for state championships Friday night in Lake Charles.
