Basketball: Carver with big win over Landry-Walker, Bonnabel wins easily
Area Boys Prep Basketball Report for Wednesday, Dec. 19
Year in and year out, Landry-Walker is a basketball power, a team to beat.
The Chargin Buccaneers won Class 4A state titles in 2014 and 2015 and won the 2017 Class 5A state championship. Last year, Landry-Walker reached the final in 5A and lost a tough overtime game to Walker in the title game.
Carver is serving notice that it is a team to beat this season.
The Rams edged Landry-Walker 66-63 at Carver Tuesday night for their 12th consecutive victory.
The Rams (16-3) were led by junior Michael Pajeaud with 22 points, 12 rebounds and three assists while senior Hakeem Shawl had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Landry-Walker (9-5) will play in the King Cotton Holiday Classic at Pine Bluff, Arkansas over the Christmas holidays.
Bonnabel led from start to finish in an easy 88-35 victory over Cohen College Prep Tuesday evening.
The Bruins jumped out to an 18-7 lead after one quarter and blew the game open in the second quarter taking a 45-14 lead into halftime. It was 71-30 going to the fourth quarter.
