Boys Basketball: Brother Martin, Jesuit post solid wins Monday

Area Boys Prep Basketball Report for Tuesday, Dec. 11

Catholic league rivals Brother Martin and Jesuit posted solid wins Monday evening.

The Crusaders prevailed 43-34 over Chalmette at Conlin Gymnasium.

In a low scoring affair, Brother Martin led 7-5 after one quarter but the Owls rallied to take a 16-15 lead by halftime. The third quarter proved decisive as Brother Martin outscored Chalmette 21-11 to take a 36-27 lead going to the final quarter and maintained that edge for the victory.

T.J. Small led the way with 15 points while Perez had 10 to lead the Crusaders (6-3). Senior Jaylen Green had 14 points while junior Kameron Green had nine points for the Owls (6-6).

Both teams return to action Thursday on the opening day of the Valero Christmas Classic at Chalmette.

Jesuit traveled to Jackson and easily defeated East Feliciana 65-20.

The Blue Jays dominated from the start, jumping out to a 13-2 lead after one quarter before expanding the lead to 29-7 by halftime. Jesuit led 40-9 after three quarters.

Elijah Morgan led Jesuit (10-1) with 20 points while Zachary DeBlieux and Kyle Haupt each contributed nine points. Rodriguez London topped the Tigers (0-4) with 11 points while D’Andre Patin had eight points.

Jesuit will take time off for final exams before hosting Northlake Christian on Dec. 20 at 5:15 p.m. while East Feliciana will take on Baker Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Central Tournament.
