Fifth-seeded Archbishop Shaw advanced to the Division I quarterfinals Saturday evening with a 48-38 home victory over No. 12 Byrd in Marrero.

The Eagles looked like they would blow out the Yellow Jackets, shutting out Byrd for a 14-0 lead after one quarter. The Yellow Jackets righted themselves and cut the deficit to 25-14 by halftime. Shaw led 38-26 going to the final quarter.

Kam Johnson topped the Eagles with 18 points, Rodney Phillips scored 11 points and Isaiah Crawford finished with 10 points.

Brian Lair and Mike Thornton topped Byrd (5-8) with 11 points each.
